Dear Birthmother,
Dear Expectant Mother,
So much aloha and compassion for the decision you are making and the next part of this journey you are embarking on! You have so much courage and dedication to consider doing something this hard and life changing. I do not know the situation that brought you to this point, but it must have been so hard and likely continues to weigh on you. I cannot imagine how challenging of a decision this has been. I fully support you in the decision you are making. My hope for you, whether we are a match or not, is that you find peace through this process and that you find a family for your baby that you feel good about.
I am deeply grateful you have taken the time to read this far and consider me as the adoptive mother for your darling baby. I have waited a long time to build a family, and I am confident I will love this baby and provide them everything they deserve. The baby will grow up knowing their birth story and where they came from. I hope to honor both you and your baby in how we move forward in this life together.
With aloha and understanding,
Lisa
My Home
I live in Hawai’i in a one-story home near lush green mountains and the ocean with seasonal views of whales playing in the distance. My neighbors walk by daily and say hello, and I often receive armfuls of fruits and vegetables that they grow. Bella is my sweet and spicy kitten. She has been with me since she was four weeks old and is now a hanai family member. She insists on boxes that are too small for her and tiny stuffed animals for her daily fun. The community, home, kitten, and myself are ready to share our fun, weird, and caring life with the special baby who joins my family.
My Extended Family
My extended family includes my blood relatives and my hanai Hawai’i family. I was raised near all of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We have traditions centered around the Catholic/Christian faith, where we gather to share food and laughter together. My grandmother always has a new game of the year that she is excited to share; we love to learn games from her! My family connects through playing games and spending time together outside.
My favorite memory is Christmas Eve at my grandmother’s home, where we play games, eat well, and get an early Santa delivery. Now I partake in the gatherings as an adult and play with all my cousins’ growing children. I very much look forward to sharing these traditions with my future baby as they were monumental in my growth and development.
Locally, I have my hanai Hawai’i family. I am very much supported by this group of diverse people. It’s not just a canoe club. They provide me with support, love, laughter, cultural knowledge, acceptance, and competitive fun. We spend the weekends at the hale playing in the ocean, sharing food, and bringing joy to all. My future baby will be so loved; everyone is excited to meet them and love on us.
