RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:
Any
Dear Birthmother,
Thank you so much for reading our profile and considering us for this overwhelming decision. We cannot imagine how difficult this process must be for you. This is an emotional journey, and we admire your strength throughout all of this. Please know whatever you are feeling, it is valid and okay. We already have so much love and admiration for both you and your child.
If your child becomes part of our family, they will be unconditionally loved! We will show your child the world through experiences and love. Your child will be surrounded by a family that is supportive and encourages them to be who they desire to be. If it is important to your child, it will become important to all of us. We hope that when you review our profile, you can picture your child as part of our family.
We hope you find throughout our letter, family bio, and video/photos that we are approachable throughout this journey. Please know, whatever and whoever you choose will be the correct answer, and we support you.
With love,
Courtney and Joseph
About Us
We are very excited about this journey and always knew adoption was for us. Our love story started on a cold winter day in December 2014. We were at a dog park, and multiple dogs started fighting. The experience was overwhelming, but we both remained calm and ensured everyone was safe. Our personalities matched instantly; we are both high-energy people, but when things get stressful, we manage to stay calm and look at the bigger picture. We are a family that truly values experiences and time together! We travel often and frequently take time away from our careers for family vacations and trips. As parents, we want to show our children that the world is larger than where we live and full of multiple cultures, history, and beauty. Even when we are at home, we spend time at shows, museums, or crafting studios and making delicious meals together as a family.
Our Home
We have three rescue dogs: Princess Belle, Mrs. Potts, and Beast. (Our daughter named them.) The dogs love tea parties, snuggle time, trail walks, fetch, and watching our daughter and her friends play. The school district in our area is ranked very high within the state, but we love the private school our daughter attends! Our neighborhood is very safe, with lots of families. We have summer BBQs and pool parties frequently throughout the summer. The beach is only 45 minutes away, and we love to build sand castles in the summer. We have memberships to the local aquarium and zoo. In the winter, we still try to do some outdoor local activities, like ice skating or ski resorts.
Our Extended Family
Our family gets together often! Courtney has one married brother with a niece and nephew. Joseph has one brother, who is younger. We host two parties a year at our home. The fall party has become a holiday. On average, we have 80 or more people at this party. We have a pumpkin carving station, the pool is still open, and we have an 18-foot water slide. As a married couple, we are all together as one family. If you attended one of our gatherings, you would see how we have an “all are welcome” atmosphere.
Grandparents are very involved in our daughter’s life. We are fortunate that they watch her and blessed that we never had to use a daycare. The bond that develops with grandparents is so special. Grandparents travel with us too! Recently Poppy’s favorite college football team made it to the semi-finals. We all put on his team’s logo and traveled to the game. This is our family. If it is important to one of us, it is important to all of us.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption was discussed before we married. We knew we wanted to adopt and can remember having the first conversation about adoption while dating. It was a relief that we both wanted to adopt. If the other wasn’t interested, our story may have ended there.
If we wanted to adopt from the beginning, why now? The answer is finances. We want to adopt a child and give them everything necessary. Since we do have a biological daughter, making sure she was okay with this was also important. As parents, we do try to include our kids in decision making if appropriate. Our family has a history of adoption for generations, domestic and internationally. We are very anxious to grow our family.
